Hello, my name is Emily Rose. I am the 8th grade homeroom teacher and the Middle School Religion and Social Studies teacher. This is my 16th year teaching at St. Philip’s and for the Archdiocese of Washington. I am a former student of St. Philip’s school and have been a parishioner of St. Philip’s Church for over 30 years. In my free time I enjoy going to baseball games, especially the Washington Nationals, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.
I graduated from Christendom College with a bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in Theology in 2005. I am a Maryland certified teacher and a certified catechist for the Archdiocese of Washington.
My goal in Middle School is to prepare the students for High School. We work on learning how to read for information and different note taking techniques. Students have a variety of different types of writing assignments across all content areas. We also ensure they are exposed to the skills needed to prepare and take Midterms and Finals. I am very involved in the life of the school by coaching the Academic Quiz Bowl Team, coordinating the National Geography Bee and our History Fair, and assisting with the planning of the Math-a-thon to fundraise for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
